Views from the Uffizi Gallery in Florence

at the Taft Museum of Art in Cincinnati, Ohio: A selection of 40 landscape paintings from the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy, surveys the evolution of landscape painting in Italy over three centuries, from the Renaissance through the 18th century. Included are works by such great painters as Botticelli, Guercino, Poussin, Claude Lorrain, and Canaletto.

Warren Kimble's America
May 18 to October 26, 2008
at the Shelburne Museum in Vermont: Warren Kimble's America is the Vermont artist's first major retrospective and includes the best of his folk art works including barns, flags, landscapes, and delightfully whimsical animals. Lesser known recent abstract works, including several pieces that represent the artist's interpretation of the impact of the Iraq war on women, showcase the depth and breadth of the Kimble's talent and influence.

"The Wonderful World of Purebred Dogs" Poster Competition:
The American Kennel Club and Eukanuba are pleased to launch the annual commemorative poster competition in which artists are encouraged to submit an original two-dimensional painting or drawing celebrating the theme: "The Wonderful World of Purebred Dogs." The poster will commemorate the eighth annual AKC/Eukanuba National Championship to be held in Long Beach, California, December 13-14, 2008.

The grand prize winner will receive $1,000 and a four-day/three-night trip for two to the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship in Long Beach, California December 13-14 (including airfare and hotel). The winning artwork will be used in a commemorative poster that will be sold at the event as well as on the AKC Web site. Proceeds will be donated to Take the Lead, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that provides direct services, support and care for people in the sport of purebred dogs who suffer the devastation of a life-threatening or terminal illness.
Submission deadline: October 10, 2008 for online entries and October 13, 2008 for postmarked mail-in entries. For competition rules, click HERE.

PRINT's Creativity + Commerce: International Business Graphics Prize: Creativity + Commerce showcases outstanding print and interactive design from around the world. This highly selective competition features the best branding campaigns, websites, advertising, corporate brochures, annual reports, identity systems, packaging, catalogs, motion graphics, and signage produced to communicate with a company's audience, investors, employees, or the public at large. International Design Magazine Annual Review: I.D. is now accepting entries into the 2009 Annual Design Review. Winners will appear in the July/August 2009 issue of International Design Magazine (I.D.) Consumer products, equipment, and furniture must have been released to the market during the 2008 calendar year. Graphic, interactive, and packaging designs must have been published or distributed within this period. Environmental submissions must have been realized during this period. Concepts must have been completed during this period. Student work must be the result of a classroom/academic assignment and must have been completed during the 2007-2008 academic year. Visit I.D.
