Masaki Kobayashi

Masaki Kobayashi (1916-1996) went to work for Shochiku Studios in 1941 as an assistant director. His career was interrupted when he was drafted into the army during World War II. Mr. Kobayashi was taken prisoner of war.

After the war's end, Mr. Kobayashi worked as an assistant to Keisuke Kinoshita. His own films often dealt with corruption and social problems.
