Mutts Like Me: Portraits

Adopt a PetMutts Like Me

Shepard Fairey, the man who made an icon out of the face of President Barack Obama, is putting his artistic skills to use in a worthy cause. When President Obama referred to himself as "mutts like me," he inspired Dr. Pia Salk, spokesperson for Adopt-a-Pet.com to contact Mr. Fairey with a request. "On the heels of Obama's comment, I got a call from Pia Salk, an animal advocate who works with North America's largest nonprofit pet adoption website," said Fairey. "Pia simply asked if I might be willing to collaborate on a way to have my art help these animals."

The "Adopt" image was unveiled at a Los Angeles art gallery on January 8, 2009. It is being distributed to 7,000 shelters and is also available for download at the new Mutts Like Me web site. You will also find banners that you may post on your web site or MySpace page.
